01 · MARKET BY ORDERSee the orders inside market depth.
What it shows: specific resting limit orders that make up depth at each price and their relative queue position. Sierra Chart limits MBO access to Service Package 12.
Retail benefit: understand how a depth level is constructed and where displayed orders sit relative to other displayed orders.
The edge: more queue context than an aggregated size alone. Absolute queue position should not be claimed from MBO; Sierra explicitly describes it as relative.
02 · HISTORICAL DEPTHWatch liquidity persist, stack or disappear.
What it shows: historical market-depth quantities at each price as color-coded areas on the chart.
Retail benefit: study how resting liquidity changed as price approached an area instead of relying on a single order-book snapshot. Sierra Chart can also record and replay historical market-depth data when that depth data is available.
The edge: distinguish persistent liquidity from levels that were added or removed before interaction, then review the sequence later in replay.
03 · FOOTPRINTS / NUMBERS BARSSee trading activity inside the bar.
What it shows: bid volume, ask volume, delta, trades and other volume-at-price values at individual price levels.
Retail benefit: see where aggressive buying or selling actually occurred rather than only the final OHLC shape.
The edge: spot imbalances and potential absorption while analyzing the mechanics of a move.
04 · DOM + EXECUTIONWork directly from the live order ladder.
What it shows: bids, asks, depth and working-order context in a price ladder.
Retail benefit: monitor supply/demand around the current market and manage orders from the same operational view.
The edge: short-term decisions can incorporate live liquidity rather than only chart-derived signals.
05 · CUSTOM ANALYTICSBuild beyond prepackaged indicators.
What it enables: Sierra Chart's ACSIL is C++-based and exposes price data, tick data, time and sales, bid/ask information and market-depth data to custom studies and trading systems.
Retail benefit: combine proprietary calculations, alerts and automation around the data that matters to your workflow.
The edge: the platform becomes programmable rather than a fixed set of indicators.
06 · STANDARD PLATFORM COMPARISONTradingView has DOM—but the workflow is different.
Accurate comparison: TradingView supports DOM and Level 2 for supported brokers and symbols. It is incorrect to say TradingView has no Level 2.
Difference: Sierra Chart Package 12 supports MBO-specific order visibility and relative queue context, plus native historical depth and Numbers Bars workflows.
Why it matters: we focus on professional market-structure data rather than pretending a normal candlestick chart is the entire market.
